Ankle and Foot Institute now offers Laser treatment for nail fungus. I am proud to announce the world class Fotona podiatry laser is here and ready to eliminate your toe nail fungus. This is the only podiatry Fotona laser system in the state of Missouri and offers superior laser physics to competing systems. Please visit www.nailfungusfixer.com for more information.

Topical medications generally do not work to clear a fungal nail infection but do offer protection to a healthy nail from fungus development. That leaves 3 options to eliminate nail fungus. The first option is an oral antifungal which will take 3-6 months of taking a pill on a daily basis. Patients with liver disease should not take this medication and there can be problems with patients using cholesterol medications. The second option is surgical removal of the nail. This option works well but involves recovery time. You can choose to have a new nail grow back (9-12 months) or the nail can be permanently removed by cauterizing the nail root with a chemical. The third option and the newest technology is laser treatment. This is a great option if you want to avoid the medication and pain associated with nail removal. Laser treatment is not covered by insurance but because I own my laser my pricing is more competitive than competing systems in the St. Louis market. Please call now for a consultation at (636) 717-1100.
